About the Founder
Enrique S. Flores is the son of Mexican immigrants. Enrique’s parents immigrated to this country for the same reasons that most people leave their home-land, in hopes of establishing a better quality of life for their children.
Enrique S. Flores spent the first 26 years of his life growing up in the “Story and King Neighborhood” of East San Jose. Enrique is the product of the (K-8) Alum Rock School District. In 10th grade, Enrique received a scholarship from the Jesuit Community, making it possible for him to attend and graduate from Bellarmine College Preparatory. Post-high school, Enrique received financial assistance again via Santa Clara University’s “Tuition Remission” Program; again, making it possible for Enrique to earn both his Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology, from Santa Clara University (in 2001) and a Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in Correctional Psychology, from Santa Clara University (in 2006).
Enrique completed his 1st Autobiographical book entitled: From E.S.S.J., to S.C.U., and Back at age 20; founded the East Side Heroes nonprofit at age 23; completed his masters degree at age 26; married at age 27; and is now working on his 2nd manuscript (as a collection of memoirs) which he hopes to get published one day.
Currently, (age 30), Enrique serves as the Director of Youth Services for the YWCA of Silicon Valley and is also a substitute “Substance Abuse” teacher for Milpitas Adult Education at the Elmwood Correctional Facility.
